Tables:
Don’t add tables to your book
Why Not:
The Smashwords Meatgrinder will pick up autovetter errors in your book. The reason being that tables do not convert in the conversion process.
Solution:
Convert the table into a .jpg or .png image (DON’T use any other image format)
Textboxes:
Don’t use textboxes in your book
Why Not:
The Smashwords Meatgrinder will pick up autovetter errors in your book. The reason being that textboxes do not convert in the conversion process.
Solution:
Convert the textboxes into a .jpg or .png image (DON’T use any other image format)
Page Numbers:
Page numbers will cause autovetter errors – the Meatgrinder sees this as having textboxes in your document.
Special Characters:
Certain special characters cause autovetter errors – be vary of using them. I have had problems using arrows the book.
Solution:
Convert the arrows to images.
Images:
Images should be inline to text and have no text wrapping. You will pick up autovetter errors with text wrapping.
Book Cover:
If your book cover is not the correct size (less than the minimum size – 1600 X 2400) then you will pick up autovetter erros when uploading your book.
Author Name:
Make sure that the author name in the interior of your book / on your book cover and the Pen Name in your Smashwords account are identical – your book will not be accepted into the Premium catalog if this is not the case.
