Platforms for Advertising Your eBook
Beyond retailer ads, there are dedicated platforms built specifically to put your book in front of readers actively looking for something new. Here are established, reputable options.
BookBub
The largest and most well-known paid ebook promotion platform. A featured deal can put your book in front of a huge, genre-specific subscriber base — spots are competitive and selective, but it’s widely regarded as one of the highest-converting options available.
Written Word Media (Free Booksy / Bargain Booksy / Fussy Librarian-style services)
A family of genre-targeted ebook promotion newsletters, generally more accessible than BookBub for newer authors, at a lower cost per campaign.
NetGalley
Built for getting your book in front of reviewers, librarians, and booksellers ahead of release — useful for building early reviews and word-of-mouth rather than direct sales.
StoryOrigin / BookFunnel
Tools built for author cross-promotion — building your email list through group promotions and reader magnets with other authors in your genre.
Free Community & Deal Sites
See our guide to useful links for advertising your ebook for a list of free/lower-cost deal blogs and reader community sites.
A Word of Caution
Self-publishing has, unfortunately, attracted a number of operations that look like legitimate author communities or “bestseller networks” but exist mainly to harvest fees or personal information from new authors. Before submitting your book or personal details anywhere, it’s worth a quick search for the platform’s name plus “review” or “scam” — the Alliance of Independent Authors’ Self-Publishing Advice Center maintains an ongoing watchlist of exactly this kind of operation.
Get Your Book Ready Before You Promote It
Whichever platform you choose, a properly formatted file and a strong cover make a real difference in how a promotion converts into actual sales.
